Team 3 :Difference between experiment and observation

Experiment: it is a procedure carried out with the goal of establishing the validity of a hypothesis
Observation: it is an act of noticing or perceiving
Differences: experiments are meant to researcher’s response and it is the best way to say that the data is the best cause and effect. Whereas observation is only to observe but it cannot give manipulations.
Example for experiment: Finding out if playing video games with violent content makes kids more prone to violent behavior. One might have children come into a lab and have a certain number play a highly violent video game, another group play a somewhat violent video game, and then a last group play a game with no violence (called the control). one would then watch the kids play with other children and record any violent behavior.
Example for observation :  you may ask parents how often a child plays video games and whether they play ones with violent content. Then you might have the children play in a controlled environment with other children, a playground for example, then watch and record any violent behavior.
